The film "the Green mile", has won many awards. It's about death. About death, which is justice for criminals and a curse for executioners. That feels condemned, and the one who kills him. About kindness, honesty and perverted Vice.
The main character serves in prison, in a special body for suicide bombers, called "Cold mountain". He and his subordinates, among other things, carry out executions. One day they get a new inmate. Huge sizes Negro with indescribable fear in his eyes made a strong impression on Paul Edgcombe (the name of the protagonist of the film) and the rest of the prison staff. When guards and other prisoners found out that the African-American possessed supernatural powers, they were even more surprised. All were amazed that the clumsy modest man was able to make such an unforgivable act. Tom Hanks as always is organic in the role of a prison officer. His character in the course of the film is forced to communicate with a mighty nigger, sentenced to death for murder…
But a killer he is not like absolutely. And also very strange, wonderful... John Coffey, a unique person, while watching the movie I wanted to help him, probably, as well as wanted Paul Edgecomb. He once said, "When the Lord calls upon his righteous judgment, he asks me,' Why did you kill one of my real miracles?"What will I tell Him? What's my job?". Oh, I totally agree with him. Having put myself in the place of a prison warden, I still could not find an answer — what is the right thing to do in such a situation?! - I can't even imagine the pain ruining Paul's soul. Will they be able to execute an innocent and seemingly Holy man?
I recommend this is the most gorgeous film I've ever seen, out of an abundance of Hollywood movies. That the book, that the film, are both excellent. I was not able to recover, when I watched the film for the first time... I'm still under the impression, and then, when I read the book... a kind of "Master and Margarita" by Stephen king... and HIM crucified again, and history repeats itself... you Know, I think our world will become better only when the execution does not take place, and some will refuse (albeit at the cost of their own well-being) to again and again to crucify Christ... And no matter how he will stand before the world alone a drifter or a huge Negro, convicted of murder — there's always a chance to save him, and we fail... And don't think, by "we", I mean, and this is even more sick at heart... the Film is simply a masterpiece. I watched it for the first time 12 years ago. Since then and can't remember how many looked the other films, but this will forever remain one of those in my life, a movie which moved me to tears, and that means we're still alive.
Very shrill and touching film, be sure to watch, because will not leave anyone indifferent. Makes you wonder. The film is very strong, and leaves a strong imprint. "War of the Worlds", "Titanic", "Hachiko", "1000 Words", " Inviolable (1+1)" — all these films made me cry in my heart, but this... I do not turn the language to call this film a masterpiece, because it is something more! Drama + Science Fiction = "The Green Mile".
Qualitatively shot film, Great cast, Good Russian voice... It's just brilliant! Suggest to watch those who have never seen. And I with every new viewing open in itself something new. A story for all times. Soul shock, and tears cleanse the soul. In my opinion, this is the best screen version of Stephen king. I saw the green mile after 9 yards, so Michael Duncan was impressed. Well, Tom Hanks? Here and so everything is clear. Another amazing role, amazing actor. The ending is just the soul touched, it is a pity that even in our time, a lot of these cases happening. When I'm reviewing this film, it seems to me that it should end differently. But no. The miracle happens. And repeats all over again. It's a pity Coffey, with that power, could have avoided sentencing him.

It is a pity that Duncan did not get an Oscar for this role, one of those cases where a minor character pays all and keeps all the attention around the movie, the story is very touching, the atmosphere of the prison is well conveyed, a bunch of Stephen king — Frank Darabont as always hit the bull's-eye and created this masterpiece at the level of "Escape from The film is about good and evil, about humanity and hatred!
